:=My fiance and I also thought about relocating to Myrtle Beach, we too love the beach! However the one thing that has stopped me right now is the job market. I don't know what industry you and your wife are in, but there is not a huge job market, unless you are in Hospitality / Restaurant management. I have searched the job postings for about three months with no luck!

Stay where your are unless you are a doctor, lawyer, or some kind of professional or rich. Unless, you enjoy making 8.00-10.00 an hour. Hard to pay a mortgage with that.Oh and there is alot to do and many things that you can have a blast doing. Except if you are always broke, you have to watch all the vacationers having fun while you live here, take care of them, but can't afford to participate yourself. Been there, doing that.
