My husband is being relocated to the Myrtle Beach area in June of this year. I have two children ages 8 and 10 and the move is going to be a BIG adjustment. Moving into a family friendly area where my children can connect and make friends throughout the summer will really help this move. As well as finding a great elementary school. I would appreciate any info, tips, suggestions etc.I hope I am not too late! I am SO envious that you get to move to the place I would choose to live out the rest of my days..(I am only 36)
I don't know how much you know about "Horry County", but it is a wonderful place. I made some friends years back, but I have not kept in touch with them, but I DID get to see the "Community" at large. The kids (older, teenage) go to the arcades and things on the weekends, there is SO much to do there as a family to ease the transition, (miniature golf places there will BLOW your MIND at how exotic they are)
But, I have heard that Myrtle Beach High School is ranked right up there with some of the most prestigious schools in the nation, believe it or not!
I don't know about the elementary schools, but I can say that everyone I knew when I was a teenager on vacation there, the kids loved their school, had a lot of pride in it!
It is hard to find kids who LIKE their schools!
I know you all will do just fine, each of you will find your own "niche". and boy are there SUMMER JOBS GALORE down there, to add to any resume,as your kids move on in the years (they go quickly)...are you moving right outside MB or are you going to be IN the city of MB?
I want to wish you a very happy move, and please do let me know how it goes!
I am on Facebook as "Ashley Tenczar Curran", if you friend me, let me know by writing "MB" (Myrtle Beach)
Best Regards,
Ashley
